Yuniya Faqs
If you’ve got a question about YUNIYA, here’s your place to find the answer. If you think something is missing, please don’t hesitate to ask us about it using our contact form.
How long does it take you to create one video?
It takes two to three months to create a video. First, we work on the topic, the foundation, research and scripting.
Writing takes between a few weeks or months to complete.
When the script is ready, we sketch out the visual.
Next, we spend several weeks on illustrations.
The narration comes next.
Once the narration is complete, the animation begins.
Week after week, the animator starts to make illustrations move.
The final step is the music. Most of our soundtracks are original, composed by African artists.
You can listen to the songs on Spotify and youtube.
And that's it—over three months to make a YUNIYA video.
What’s the research like for each story?
It depends on various factors.
There are books and articles based on historical texts.
We also interview elders and members of the communities.
Telling these stories will always be a challenge - there will be multiple viewpoints, some of which are difficult to find.
Don't hesitate to contact us if you have great sources that you would like to share with us or believe we can do better.
What story will you animate next?
We can never say for certain which animation story is next since we let inspiration guide us. If you have a recommendation for a story or country you'd like to see next, please feel free to get in touch using the contact form.
I love the music you are using in your videos – where can I get it?

Where can I find the sources for your videos?
If you want to find out more about our topics, we try to provide detailed sources and further reading suggestions for as many videos as possible. You can usually find them in the info box of the video. If no sources are listed, this might be due to internal reasons (e.g., we used material that is not available online)
