OBJECTS & CONNECTIONS

01.

Our stories of growing up in the African continent are one epic narrative.

One story, many characters, many plugs.

Every story has its literary design.

There are essential repeated themes that weave through the stories, like- the wire car adventures or the kwepena games.

Our stories enable us to explore and celebrate the lasting cultural connections and visualise Africa's diversity, beauty, and zing!

02.

What do we do?

Objects and Connections is an ongoing storytelling project about YOU.

We are taking their stories of growing up in the African continent, creating an exchange between generations and using modern communication tools to pass down these stories.

We tell stories of growing up in the African continent with stories collected from Africans in the global diaspora and those in the continent.

These stories tell of innovation, fun, running wild, culture, connection, and love.

Together, they provide a fascinating glimpse into the extraordinary continent we call home and ensure the little pieces we all know do not get forgotten.

03.

How do we do it?

We ask you to pick an object (s) from your childhood and tell us a story about it. Each object tells a story of growing up in the different parts of the African continent, with stories collected from Africans in the global diaspora and those on the continent.

These stories enable us to explore and celebrate the lasting cultural connections and visualise Africa's diversity, beauty, and zing!

As a collective, we can store these as time capsules to show to our children. To show them our differences and similarities and shared history and culture.
I hope you will enjoy listening to these stories as much as we have enjoyed collecting them.
