Pacu
Falling Back Into Story
Pacu: meaning Home. A word used among the Luo people, a nilotic ethnic group native to Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, particularly in the northern and eastern regions bordering Kenya.
What is your relationship with ancestry and heritage? How do they inform you now? What does it mean to activate the storytelling 'muscle'?
This is a call to reconnect with ancestry, dreaming, and imagination through the ancient art of storytelling.
Welcome to Pacu, where we explore what it might mean to re/connect with myths and folktales.
Myths and Folktales
What if every monster creature held a secret within?
Do deities (un)willingly suffer, or are they emotionally or spiritually compelled to sacrifice?
In this space, you'll encounter stories from majestic creatures of rivers and sky gods.
Each tale will transport you from treetops and mountain peaks to the depths of caves, inviting you to sit under the shade of a baobab tree or listen to the music of fantastical beings.
Together, they offer a captivating glimpse into the extraordinary planet we call home, where Earth is the true protagonist in all its myriad forms.

May
How can stories introduce us to new perspectives and help us understand our place in the world, connections with others, and relationships with more-than-human kin?
In May, we'll explore folktales and their ability to reframe our understanding of the world.
We will highlight the universal bond between humans and nature by weaving together the connections between cultures and their relationships with trees, along with the cosmologies, mythologies, and stories from various ancient and contemporary cultures that feature sacred trees and the symbol of the Tree of Life.
