Hannah Battershell is a Bristol-based multidisciplinary artist with a background in English literature and a passion for paper, she is driven by a love of stories and an obsession with materials.

Over her many years of exhibiting she has produced a wide variety of work: miniature portraits on buttons; intricate layered  paper landscapes; cyanotype prints; automata; stop-motion animations. The pieces, however, always display the minute attention to detail, playful humour and strong sense of narrative that characterises Battershell’s style.

Inspired by folk tales, dreams and the things seen at the edge of her vision Hannah Battershell’s artworks are designed to draw you in closer, as a book might.
